F: Cannot Assign Media Keys on non-Apple keyboard

Hi,

I would to use a non-Apple Keyboard on my Mac. Actually I easily switched the ALT and Windows/Cmd keys. Also the keys for display brightness, Mission Control and Dashboard worked out of the box.

But why I cannot easily assign the media keys like the other? I searched the web and found solution with creating "Services" with Automator and Apple-Script. The little scripts work, testing them in Automator but after assigning them to a F-key nothing happens. For example: "playpause" iTunes on F8 or any other free F-key does not work.

How can I get it to work? And yes I know there are several extra tools which can handle this but I do not want to run an extra background tool.

My system: El Capitan 10.11.6

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
