I would like to upgrade my iPad2 with iOS 7.1.2 to a newer version. Is it possible to upgrade and activate today in the year 2017? Or is the device after that not usable because it is not possible to activate older iOS versions?
I think my iPAD2 is to old and not certified to use the actual iOS.

The newest possible version for your iPad 2 is iOS 9.3.5. There should be no problem for you to upgrade your device to this. Newer versions like iOS 10 are not possible because - as you already wrote - your iPad is too old to handle all the new functions.
Thank you very much for your answer. Ok iOS 9.3.5 is newest that is possible.
But we are in the year 2017 and it could be a problem to activate the iPad, because I read that Apple will not activate older iOS versions. I think after the iOS upgrade I will have possibly an unusable iPad.
I wouldn´t like to buy a new iPad because that situation.
