since a few days, I don't know if it is related to my recent upgrade to High Sierra, all newly saved bookmarks in Safari will only be saved at the bottom of the list (e.g. favorites). With my number of bookmarks, it's really annoying to have to scroll down until you get to the new bookmarks. I can't find any hints on how to switch it back to "normal". Maybe I pressed some cryptic keyboard shortcuts, but I can't undo them, seemingly I'm too stupid for.........

And: I know how to move bookmarks and I know about the existence of folders, that's not my problem.

Safari 11.1 changed the way new bookmark is stored. By default it is added to the bottom of the list.
Drag it up and place it where you want it to be placed. Safari > Bookmarks > Edit Bookmarks

Note. Safari 11.1 has built-in sort feature. Sorting bookmarks alphabetically made easy now.
Sort Bookmarks
1. Click Sidebar icon in Safari toolbar.
2. Right click the Folder to be sorted.
3. Scroll down to “Sort By”.
Choose either “Name” or “Address” from the pop-up menu.
Once sorted, there is no possibility of reversing it.

War das nicht schon immer so. Die neuesten sind immer unter. Aber man kann ja den neuen Link auch direkt an die gewünschte Stelle droppen.
