Waking up delay when using MacBook with an external display - since macOS Sierra (10.12)
Since updating to macOS Sierra (10.12) in late 2016 I have a standby bug.
I use my MacBook closed (clamshell mode) with an external display via HDMI. When entering Standby, the waking up process takes up to 2 minutes. (Note: This also happens with different types of displays e.g. Thunderbolt. This problem does not occur, when the Mac is used without an external display.)
This problem even occurs on a clean system. Apple Store Support did not diagnose any hardware errors. Interestingly, this bug does not occur under macOS older than 10.12. Therefore, I am convinced this is a software bug.
When the Mac is opened and used with an external display, the wake up process is slightly different: When waking up, the MacBook display is directly activated, but the external display does not receive any signal from the Mac in most cases. If I enter standby using Shift + Ctrl + Eject and directly wake up the Mac, it becomes usable again. (Sometimes I do this more than once, but in the end it works).
Does anyone have a solution for that bug?
