DVDs from Russia won't play on MacBook Pro
we bought DVD's in Russia, we can't play them on our Mac. Download of VLC recommended by internet did not help. Does anyone have an idea to solve the problem ?

DVDs have region settings. An optical drive can accept up to 5 changes and then it is locked into the last region.
I have only played a single DVD from another region once. Even though I used VLC it still locked my optical drive to that region.
Are you sure the DVD you purchased is a standard television style DVD? DVD just refers to the nature of the optical disc, not the formatting of what is on it.
