Album covers missing in Finder and 3rd party music apps for downloads after Catalina update

Hi,

i have updated my MacBook to the latest version of Catalina. When I download music in the new music app that replaced iTunes, the album covers that are contained in the m4a files themselves go missing.

Please note that this is not the same issue as the “Catalina cover issue” already posted here several other times. I see all album covers in the music app (which many wrote they don’t) as they are seemingly downloaded separately. But when I look at the m4a files in Finder — or another 3rd party music player app — there is no more album cover contained in the file itself. The thumbnails in Finder or the album view in other players only show empty covers.

This only happened for downloads since the day when I upgraded to Catalina. It happens both with music bought in iTunes and music that I uploaded myself to my Apple Music account (for these files I know for sure that there was an album cover in the file as I placed it there myself). It was also reproducible with another Apple ID on another MacBook where Catalina is installed. For songs downloaded before Catalina, both the thumbnails in Finder and covers in 3rd party music players are still there as they used to be.

Any Ideas? I think it might be a bug in the music app but am not 100% sure.

Ich habe das gleiche Problem wie Thomas.

Seit dem Upgrade auf Mac OS X Catalina sehe ich zwar in Musik die Cover der einzelnen Alben, aber wenn ich die Dateien im Finder betrachte oder auf meinen MP3-Player (Sony Walkman) lade, gibt es kein Cover.

Ich habe schon diverse Dinge probiert.

Zum Beispiel habe ich die Cover bei jeder Datei von Hand nachgepflegt, denn die Dateien selbst enthielten keine. Scheint wohl nur über das Album referenziert zu sein. Das hat dazu geführt, dass ich zumindest im Finder das Cover sehen konnte. Jedoch hat das noch immer nicht dazu geführt, dass das Album-Artwork auf meinem MP3-Player zu sehen ist. Das war unter Mojave und allen Vorgänger-Versionen, bzw. als iTunes noch iTunes war, nie ein Problem.

Ich habe versucht die M4A-Dateien in MP3-Dateien zu konvertieren. Aber auch die MP3-Dateien zeigen auf meinem Walkman keine Bilder.

Dieses Problem habe ich definitiv erst seit der "Zerschlagung" von iTunes. Erst seit Catalina gibt es hier massig Bugs, die teilweise echt nervig sind. Ich vermute, dass dass vielen Nutzern nicht mehr auffällt, weil die wenigsten noch so Musik hören, wie ich das mache. Also so richtig kaufen, herunterladen und dann auch noch auf einem Nicht-Apple-Device abspielen. In der heutigen Streaming-Gesellschaft gehöre ich ja schon zu den Dinosauriern...

Aber das Artwork gekaufter M4A-Dateien auf allen Plattformen und Abspielgeräten sehen zu können sollte doch bitte weiterhin funktionieren. Andernfalls werde ich meine Musik wohl wieder bei Amazon kaufen müssen, was mir eigentlich missfällt. Aber das Problem mit dem Cover ist eindeutig ein iTunes-Problem und gekaufte Musik-Dateien ohne Cover sind ein No Go.

Bitte schnellstmöglich beheben.
