I am trying to change the password of a user on my MacBook Pro. from the apple dropdown menu, I go to System Pref then User/Groups and I can log in to my user but the bar to "Change Password" does not highlight/will not allow me to change the password. Where do I go to change whatever preference is not allowing me to change the password?

It appears that the issue you're experiencing may be due to limited permissions on the user account you're trying to change the password for. In order to change the password, you will need to log in using an administrator account, which will allow you to modify the settings for other users.
If you do not have access to an administrator account, you will need to ask the person who does to make the changes for you.
