Why is the search bar stuck at the bottom? (Settings & App Lists)

Hi everyone,

Am I the only one struggling with the new search bar placement in iOS 26 and later versions? While I appreciate the 'Top' toggle in Safari, the search bar in the Settings app and other system lists seems to be permanently stuck at the bottom now.

Honestly, this is a step backward in ergonomics. Almost nobody types with one hand when using a search field—especially the younger generation. We use both hands to type, and having the bar at the bottom feels cluttered and constantly gets in the way.

Does anyone know if there’s a hidden setting I missed, or is this really a forced design choice? If it’s the latter, Apple really needs to give us the option to move it back to the top, just like they did with Safari.

Du hast das Thema sehr gut beobachtet und sauber beschrieben – genau solche Vergleiche zwischen Safari und den System-Apps sind hilfreich, um das Verhalten richtig einzuordnen.

Wichtig zur Einordnung: Die Einstellung „Einstellungen → Apps → Safari → Tabs → Kompakt / Unten / Oben“ ist tatsächlich vorhanden, betrifft aber ausschließlich Safari. Damit lässt sich dort die Position der Adress- bzw. Suchleiste anpassen.

Für andere Bereiche wie Einstellungen oder systemweite Listen gilt das jedoch nicht – dort ist die Suchleiste aktuell fest im unteren Bereich verankert und lässt sich nicht umstellen.

Kurz gesagt:

Safari ist flexibel konfigurierbar, die System-Suche dagegen derzeit nicht.

Wenn Du magst kannst Du bei Apple ein Feature-Request einreichen? Auch wenn diese Seite auf Englisch ist, werden Feedbacks in deutscher Sprache ebenfalls berücksichtigt. Apple nimmt Feedback ernst, und wenn genügend Benutzer ähnliche Anliegen haben, könnten sie in Betracht ziehen, dies in zukünftigen Updates zu implementieren.
