Apps free trail scam

Have you accepted to use a free trial and cancelled it before the renewal period? It happened to me more than once, in the Apple Store, that I cancel on time not to be charged. But I was charged anyway.

So, what I decided to do is save a screenshot of the cancellation being confirmed. I thought this would be enough to protect me. But it wasn’t; and Apple is part of the scam because my refund request was declined (even when I told Apple I had the screenshot proving that I cancelled the free trial the same day I accepted it.

I would tell my credit card to credit the amount back to me, but the amount is small this time and I’ve gone through this before. You recall a credit card debit from Apple; and all they do is prevent you from using the credit card again on the Apple Store. Long story short, Apple’s customer support sucks. You should be ashamed of yourself, getting money from people this way.

Now I know that I won’t accept any free trails anymore because they are a scam. And Apple is 100% responsible for that practice.

Hi maximoreira,

I understand why this is frustrating, especially if you have a screenshot showing that the trial was cancelled.

The first thing I would check is the exact charge in your Apple purchase history. Open Settings > your name > Media & Purchases > View Account > Purchase History, or go to https://reportaproblem.apple.com. The order ID is the important part.

Then check Settings > your name > Subscriptions and see whether that subscription shows as cancelled or has an expiry date. If it does, contact Apple Billing Support again and give them the order ID, the cancellation date, and your screenshot.

I would not start with a credit card chargeback before Apple has checked the specific order.

Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple - Apple Support
