iPhone: Photos from Recently Deleted are missing and can't be found in iCloud

Dear Apple Support,

I am requesting your assistance regarding a large number of photos that were deleted from my iPhone.

I moved these photos to the “Recently Deleted” album because I intended to keep them there temporarily and recover them later. However, when I checked the album, it was completely empty, even though I believed the photos should still have been available.

My iPhone uses iCloud Photos, and I have confirmed that the photos are no longer available in the Photos library, the Recently Deleted album, or on iCloud.

These photos are extremely important to me and contain irreplaceable personal memories. I kindly ask you to investigate whether my iCloud Photos library can be restored to an earlier state or whether there is any server-side recovery option available for my account.

If there is any possibility of recovering these photos, I would be deeply grateful for your assistance.

Thank you very much for your time and support.

Sincerely,

You’ve posted in a user-to-user community, so no one here can inspect your iCloud account.

Photos normally stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Apple also notes that if your iCloud storage was over its limit, deleted photos may be removed immediately instead.

If the photos are missing from both Recently Deleted and iCloud.com, there’s no user-accessible way to roll your iCloud Photos library back. Restoring an iPhone backup won’t recover them because photos synced with iCloud Photos aren’t included in that backup.

Since this happened unexpectedly, I’d contact Apple Support as soon as possible. Only Apple can check whether anything can still be done on the account side, although recovery can’t be guaranteed:

I’d also check for separate copies on a Mac, PC, external drive, or another device. Don’t erase the iPhone or sign out of iCloud while you’re trying to recover them.
