Mac Crashes When Using iPhone Personal Hotspot

Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing a recurring issue with my MacBook Pro M3 (2023), running macOS Sequoia 15.5:

➤ After about 15 minutes of using Personal Hotspot via my iPhone 12, the Mac completely crashes. The screen freezes, then the Mac restarts.

➤ This happens both over USB and Wi-Fi, but never when connected to a regular Wi-Fi network (not using Personal Hotspot).

➤ The issue only occurs when using Personal Hotspot.

For context: I’m not using any VPN.

I’ve spent several hours with Apple Support (both remotely and at the Apple Store).

Despite:

• a full macOS reinstall,
• testing with another user account,
• a thorough hardware diagnostic,
• and many other troubleshooting steps…

The issue remains.

According to the Apple Store technician, this type of connection is “rarely used”—which I find surprising. It’s my main connection method when traveling for work.
