I downloaded a free game from the AppStore and it asked me for a payment method so ok I put a payment method but after I received a notification that told me that I had paid $1.67 to the AppStore I have no idea why I can be explained

It's also possible you owed Apple for a past purchase you didn't pay for and when you added a valid payment method, you were charged. Removing one's payment doesn't make the obligation to pay for past purchases go away.
Many "free" games contain "in-app purchases." It may be "free" to download the game and install it on your phone, but if you make any "in-app purchases", you will be charged real money for those.
Is there a possibility that this happened here?
