Pages stopped responding to external keyboard on ipad pro 11 inche

I was in the middle of typing in a document in pages and all of a sudden my pages stopped responding to my key strokes. As far as I'm aware I don't have a third party app that modifies my keyboard controls. And all keyboard access is and has been disabled in the accessibility settings.

I don't know what's going on.
