iMac 2019 won’t open any files, even Finder crashes

I have a iMac (purchase new 10/2020) running Sonoma 14.2. For the last 6ish months, my main account is running incredibly slow. It takes at least 10 minutes to load once I’ve logged in. Finder crashes multiple times before it will finally work. I can’t open any files with Adobe Reader, Preview, etc. I can open safari, it is very slow.

The weird thing is I made a log-in for my daughter to do school work. Hers seems to operate normally.

I mainly use my computer for basic word processing, general internet browsing, viewing pdf documents.

I’m not a tech person & have no clue what to do to remedy this. It’s so frustrating bc this started seemingly out of nowhere.

It will help us get a good idea of what is causing your problem if you provide a report of your system, that way we do not have to play 20 questions with you.
