My email has a different display name than my email address

I just bought an iPad to add to my iPhone and MacBook Pro. When I added my wife's name as an Apple ID to the iPad, it changed my name in my email and messages accounts to my wife's name. I have tried to fix on all my devices but still can't seem to change back to my name.

Does your wife already have another Apple device with the same Apple ID? Are you already using Family Sharing? Have you gone to settings>messages on your device and signed in with your Apple ID? To do that you will need to receive a single use code on your trusted device.
