There are a couple of editing tools included on a Mac. One that's good for individual pictures is the app Preview:

The Preview app can be found in the Applications folder. I added my Preview app to the Dock so I could find it quickly. You can also use Spotlight (⌘-space) and type Preview to get to the app. Here is the guide to Preview:

I do most of my editing in the Photos app:

This app is usually already in the Dock. Photos is an excellent image editor, but its major purpose is to help organize all your picture files so that you can find what you want and see the pictures you want to see. Here is the guide to Photos:
