ipadOS 17.4.1 - Safari - slow page navigation and repeated Safari crashes or page reloads on attempting to use familysearch.org

On attempting to navigate and edit trees on familysearch.org, on iPadOS 17.4.1 (6th gen iPad), page navigation is slow, gets progressively slower, and results in either Safari crashing, or if lucky an error has occurred popup and the page reloading.

Is it just me or is it a common issue.
