Logic Pro sounding random notes when recording with Yamaha Keyboard

I purchased a new Yamaha mx88 to record songs using Logic Pro version 10.7.9. I'm usually unable to play more than a few measures before random notes are played as if someone slammed down on the keyboard. Reading about other similar problems I've bypassed control surfaces, however that failed to work. Any recommendations as to how to resolve would be appreciated.
