MacBook 16 screen flicker except when full screen

Hello. My 16" M2 Max has screen flicker that goes away when a window is full screen. I don't know what causes it. It will flicker slightly slower than once a second. I have tried:

  • Covering the ambient light sensor
  • Disabling auto-brightness
  • Disabling True Tone
  • Changing the refresh rate from ProMotion to 60hz
  • Increasing brightness
  • Hiding the menu bar (only thing on the screen that was updating roughly once a second)

The only thing that eliminates the flicker is making a window full screen. Anyone have any clue what might be happening? I'm using Ventura.

Check your graphics acceleration setting. Sometimes toggling it and rebooting can help. It is in your system preferences/settings.

EasyRes is an App that gives you more finite control over your video in the menubar that you can download from the App Store.

SwitchResX and DisplayConfigX are even more extensive.
