How to connect (Apple TV) HDMI to Apple Thunderbolt Display?

1) At the back of the screen there is a thunderbolt 2 interface, the symbol is a "lightning". It has the same geometry as mini display port.

2) the apple TV has a HDMI interface to connect to a screen

3) there are adapter cables available, but the symbols are not same:

Has anybody practical experience on how to connect this?

The thunderbolt 2 has the same geometry as mini display port. Only the symbol apple uses for this is different.

I assume this is not the same function. Is that true?

Does this matter to connect?
