Apple Watch Factory reset (firmly pressing power off slider) does nothing - returns to passcode entry screen

Hi,

I do not have access to the originally paired iphone anymore, the passcode im 99% sure of doesn't work and the apple watch is showing wrong date, weather, location info.

I would like to factory reset the watch in order to pair it with my new phone.

Yes i've seen the below steps a hundred times - but the watch shows the loading screen and after 15 minutes returns back to the enter passcode screen. What other options do i have?

Keep your watch on its charger until you complete these steps.
Press and hold the side button until you see Power Off.*
Firmly press the Power Off slider, then lift your finger.
Tap Erase all content and settings.
Wait for the process to finish, then set up your Apple Watch again. When asked, restore from a backup.

Can you see the "Erase all content and settings" tab on your watch, if you follow the steps in the article?

Did you disable the Activation Lock, before you tried to pair with the new iPhone?

If you can't access your iPhone or Apple Watch, or if your Apple Watch isn't paired with your iPhone and you need to turn off Activation Lock:

On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
Go to Find My iPhone.
Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.
Click Erase Apple Watch. Select Next until the device is erased.
Click the remove button next to your Apple Watch.

You should contact Apple Support about that, as you've tried the all the troubleshooting a user can do in the case.

If you check your warranty and service status, using the serial number of your Apple Watch on this Apple Support page, does it state, that your watch is also not eligible for Out-of Warranty Service?

Or did Apple Support tell you, why your watch can't be serviced?

Yes, I confirm the green tick that i want to delete all content an settings, it goes into the loading screen for 15 minutes and then returns to the same homescreen/passcode promt as before.

It's also not listed in my icloud find my.
