Apple Logo Looping in iphone X after several trials and problems with Quick Start to sync to new iphone 12 pro

I got an iPhone 12 pro (128GB) 4 days ago and have been trying since to use Quick assist to migrate my data from an iPhone X (256GB). I covered the issues faced there in another post (filled my iPhone x space to force the photo optimization which otherwise doesn't happen unless you are running out of space, so that my photos would get compressed from 100GB to 7GB locally on the phone). While on the old phone the photos took 7GB and i made the quick start from phone to phone, in the new phone a .i ran out of space as photos seemed to take 100GB b. i got constantly 1% mention on photos iCloud not allowing me to optimize the memory settings c. i was blocked from deleting photos or apps. I contacted Apple Support, was asked to erase my new phone - tried several times and repeated Quick assist, and then had to do so through iTunes. What happened next? My iphone X is now looping the apple logo - which is suspiciously close to the whole syncing exercise and updating to iOS 14.4. I tried the different steps including reset/update which do not work, similar to the iTunes practical erasing of all data. Not sure what else there is to do, but I see a close correlation of these two things, and I am beyond underwhelmed with what is going on. Anyone faced several issues/any ideas on what to do? Meanwhile, the new phone got erased through iTunes and still shows the 1 % (while indicating apps and data are downloading in background - which may or may not change the 1% indication). Any thoughts and shared experiences most appreciated!

Did you already try to connect your iPhone X in recovery mode to your computer and see, if you can use the "Update" option, to save at least the data on the phone?

To do that, follow the steps in this article:

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Update oder Wiederherstellung des iPhone, iPad oder iPod touch nicht möglich - Apple Support

Since your new iPhone does not have the same capacity as the old one, restoring from a iPhone X backup may also cause these issues. See if you can save as much data from iCloud, for example photos, to your computer, in order to sync them back to the new phone, after you set the iPhone 12 back to factory settings as well.

Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud - Apple Support

In iCloud gespeicherte Daten archivieren oder kopieren - Apple Support

Are you getting the "Connect to iTunes" screen on your phone, after force restarting and connecting it to your computer?

Any error numbers given, or just the "unknown error" messages?

Are you using the original USB cable to connect, and is the phone charging, if connected to the USB port?

Trying another USB port might also help, not every USB port can deliver the needed output to power up the iPhone and establish a data connection.

update: i contacted apple support where the steps mentioned in the FAQs were repeated and confirmed that were followed. I was them prompted to go to Genius Bar where they should be able to help me further. I went there, to have the person there reading from a screen "error 4013....yep, hardware error, nothing to do. This has nothing to do with the fact this happened after all the problems with the data transfer to your new phone, and absolutely a coincidence that this happened right after you transferred the data to your new iphone. No way this could be linked, because error 4013 is a hardware error, and data transfer is a software issue. Ah, i see the back of your phone which is out of glass is broken here, so the electronics must have been "fragilized" (any engineers out there ?!) and when you did the data transfer it affected the hardware (which 1´before was mentioned that was irrelevant to the software). we cannot repair your phone because it is out of guarantee, but we can offer to replace it with a used iphone X which will cost you 500CHF without VAT -but of course you can buy a new SE or similar model which is cheaper. So sorry we couldnt help you, but we fully understand how you feel and agree this is not helpful".

Anyone had such an incident happen to them? Old iphone die after troubles with data transfer to a new one (my new one is an iphone 12pro). Also, is this normal that the "after sales services" includes only pointing out to FAQ steps and then prompting you to buy a new phone? I have been a great customer to date as i never needed an Apple support and have all kind of gadgets etc, but the minute something actually happens it sounds like you are on your own (or thankfully together with other fellow users like you). My telephone was reliably working until the minute i tried to transfer the data - i then updated to ios 14.4, did the data transfer and boom, was dead. Looking for other fellow users with similar cases, because I cannot feel i am treated like a little ignorant and be told things that are obviously ridiculous, let alone contradictory.

This article has the troubleshooting for error 4013, but since you have tried most of the steps, I'm afraid, contacting Apple Support is the only option left. In most cases, this points towards a hardware issue.

...

If you still see an error during the update:

  1. Check for updates to your Mac or PC. If you restart your computer for an update, check for updates again after you restart.
  2. Try to restore your device using another USB cable.
  3. Try to restore your device on another computer.

If you continue to see error 9, 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you try to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, contact us.

Thank you @Ingo1127. I tried all this, but it wont work. For the space issue, i resolved it by adding to my old phone lots of data to allow the photo optimization to be implemented. Now the iPhone 12 pro works fine, the storage is around 30Gb but my new problem is the looping apple logo. Data is not an issue as for the migration it is on the cloud - and on the new phone, the problem was the mention 1% icloud photos which i resolved by restoring to factory settings (after having removed the "find my phone") from icloud.

My iphone X is dead despite all efforts to restore to factory settings - i keep getting when i use volume up, volume down and right button the link to restore. Once I do so, I get several unknown error messages which i looked up but without a solution. I am convinced something got messed up with all the synchronization with the new phone (because the timing thi shappened is quite weird). One of the recommendations is now to try with another computer (!). Have only windows computers, and i just installed icloud, i.e. I have the latest version, similar to the latest iOS versions (which may also be linked to the problem?) Any advise most welcome, this is beyond frustrating!!
