Upgrade RAM
Hello Community
I want to upgrade the RAM on my elder iMac 14,2 running High Sierra.
Installed are 2x 4GB as follows:
The 2x 4GB are from Micron Technologie and not OEM labeled.
I ordered 2x 8GB and was lucky to get original Mircon Technologie DDR3 1600MHz as well.
So I guess the should match perfectly.
My question now is how to order them / stick them in.
I have Bank 0/1 each with DIMM 0/1.
As seen in the screenshot above, the 4GB sticks are both on DIMM0 one per Bank
According to what I have investigated I should place the the 2x 8GB in parallel
Like the 2 4GB 1 per BANK as they are now, and the 2 8GB as well one per BANK.
So the question is which combination is best:
Combination A)
BANK 0 / DIMM0 4GB
BANK 1 / DIMM0 4GB
BANK 0 / DIMM1 8GB
BANK 1 / DIMM1 8GB
Combination B)
BANK 0 / DIMM0 8GB
BANK 1 / DIMM0 8GB
BANK 0 / DIMM1 4GB
BANK 1 / DIMM1 4GB
Combination C)
BANK 0 / DIMM0 8GB
BANK 1 / DIMM0 4GB
BANK 0 / DIMM1 8GB
BANK 1 / DIMM1 4GB
Combination D)
BANK 0 / DIMM0 4GB
BANK 1 / DIMM0 8GB
BANK 0 / DIMM1 4GB
BANK 1 / DIMM1 8GB
Combination E)
BANK 0 / DIMM0 4GB
BANK 1 / DIMM0 8GB
BANK 0 / DIMM1 8GB
BANK 1 / DIMM1 4GB
Combination F)
BANK 0 / DIMM0 8GB
BANK 1 / DIMM0 4GB
BANK 0 / DIMM1 4GB
BANK 1 / DIMM1 8GB
