iOS and iPadOS incorrectly cache old certificate

On connection to an smtp/imap server, those OSs on 14.8 incorrectly cache and report a certificate as expired, while on the details screen clearly show the certificate as valid.

Anyone experiencing the same? Disabling the mailserver or rebooting the devices of course does not help at all and no method of clearing a certificate cache is documented anywhere.
