How to include a sticky note in a folder

I am looking for a way to include a sticky note in a folder, so that either when I open the folder, the sticky will automatically show, or when I drive with the mouse over the sticky note it will show its content..

I often need to write comments concerning the folder and I wish I had a direct and easy visual access to this information when I open the folder.

At the present, I am using the following work around:

1) open the sticky app

2) create a sticky note and write the desired comment on it

3) make a screen shot of it.

4) move the screen shot to the folder I wish to be commented

5) when opening the folder click the screen shot

6) press the space bar to read the comment.

There must be a more versatile and easy way to achieve this. The problem hier being as well that to modify the comment I have to repeat the whole procedure from the beginning.

Does anybody has an idea on a solution? I can't believe I am the only person wishing to write comments in within a folder. Thanks for the help. Cheers.

By the way, you have 2 (3) Possibilities:

1) Open the File-Inspector with an Automator-Skript on System-Start oder with a key-kombination  Command+Option+i to show a window which ist sensitive on marked files or folders.

See https://osxdaily.com/2010/01/04/access-the-file-inspector-with-command-option-i/

You can make notes in the field of "Kommentare".

2) Create an Apple script using Script-Editor.app on your Mac, which will be activated when you drag a file in a folder or when you open or close a folder. Unfortunately, the script reference does not provide an option to launch a script when a folder icon is highlighted with the mouse only.

Example script that shows you or deletes folder comments: Attachment.

3) a strong application is also Hazel, but it costs a bit. With it you can monitor folders or move or manipulate files according to certain rules and actions. See user manual: https://www.noodlesoft.com/manual/hazel/work-with-folders-rules/

To see some contents (Quick Look) from files or folders, The app peek might also be interesting

I I think the application you are looking for does not exist yet and would have to be programmed.

Ask at https://manytricks.com if they would program it.
