I'm trying to import my pictures into Apple Photos and additionally into iCloud Photos. Many of the photos are importing, but I have a lot of these Gray elements. These elements were not imported. Do you know what this means and how to counter it?

All grey items are showing a video badge. You seem to try to import Videos. Not all video formats are supported by Photos. What is the source of these photos? Are they currently on a camera card in a camera? Or on an iPhone? Or are the item old videos you are trying to import from the disk?

When you connect the disk with the videos to your Mac, try to copy one of the items to a local folder on your Mac. Then try to open it in QuickTime Player to see, if your Mac can play it.
Also, select one of the items on the disk in the Finder and open the Info with ⌘I . Look at the filename and the filename extension, also at the codec. What is the format?
If you want to use the items in iCloud, you are probably using the newer Photos.app, not the older iPhoto. Try to drag the item you inspected from the local folder onto the Photos icon to import it. Does it work for individual files? Or d you get an error message. If you get an error message, what is the message, literally?
The videos may be using a codec, that is not compatible with iCloud. Try to convert them to a different format, that Photos will import. The video formats mentioned here may no longer be compatible: About legacy media in iMovie for macOS - Apple Support

Thank you! I try to import them from a disk. I put them from the iPhone on the disk years before and now I want to import all into the cloud. But I don't know, if this are live videos or normal videos. I can't see, what type of video it is. Is there no simple way to import them?
So, I tried to open the videos on my mac. That was successful. I tried to use the Photos app, but it doesn't work. for all files. There is no error message. Now I synced the folders via finder with my iPad. That was successful but now it is not possible, to import these photos to my iCloud photos library. Do you have any suggestions?
