I just was wondering that Apple has updated in februrary 2023 the following article but did not stated any limitation like M1 or M2 devices:
Use an external graphics processor with your Mac – Apple Support (UK)
Do we get eGPU support for M1 / M2 devices?

Regarding your question:
We are Users not Apple Employees so we don't know if Apple will ad this feature in the near future and I guess not as this feature is limited on Computers with Intel processors. However the M2 and the upcoming M3 silicon SoC Processors have already a very fast GPU included what makes a external GPU obsolete.
