Hello

I can explain some potential reasons why the weather prediction on your device may not be accurate.

Location Services: Check if the location services are enabled for your Weather app. If it's not, the app may not be able to accurately detect your location and provide correct forecasts.

The Weather app gets its data from a third-party source, and the accuracy of this data can vary. Apple's weather data comes from a variety of sources, including The Weather Channel, and if these sources provide inaccurate data, the Weather app will also show inaccurate data.

Weather forecasting is inherently uncertain. Meteorologists use complex models that analyze patterns in atmospheric pressure, humidity, wind speed, and other factors to predict future weather conditions. These models can sometimes be off, especially for longer-term forecasts.

Especially in a country like Switzerland, which has a lot of geographical diversity (mountains, valleys, lakes), there can be significant variation in weather conditions over short distances. The weather station that your app is using for data might not be particularly close to your actual location, or it may not accurately represent your local microclimate.

As for why this is happening specifically with Apple's Weather app, it could be due to any combination of the above factors. If you're consistently getting inaccurate forecasts, it might be worth trying out a different weather app to see if it performs better.

Lastly, if you believe there's a technical issue with the Weather app on your MacBook Air running macOS 12.6, you could try updating the app or your operating system, or reaching out to Apple support.

If Apple's weather service isn't meeting your needs, you might consider using a different weather app. Many people find that local weather services are more accurate for their specific area. You mentioned Meteo from Swiss TV stations - if they have an app or a website, that might be a more reliable source of weather information for you.

Another option would be to provide feedback to Apple. Apple likely collects user feedback about the Weather app, and if they receive enough reports about inaccurate weather forecasts in Switzerland, they might investigate the issue and potentially make changes to their data sources or algorithms.

Finally, you might consider using multiple weather apps or services. This would give you a range of forecasts, and you could use the consensus among them to get a more accurate idea of what the weather is likely to be.

Thank you for your answer, but I have to disagree with you.

the location services are all enabled which resolves correctly, but the weather forecast used to be a lot better in the past.

all local weather stations like Meteo from the Swiss TV stations get it quite right for Switzerland, so it looks like your service is getting wrong data…or from the wrong source.

at least is stopped using it, since it is not reliable.
