Hello!
We're grateful for your participation in the Apple Support Community.
Migrating data from a Time Capsule backup to a new Mac (like your Mac mini M1) is straightforward using the Migration Assistant tool built into macOS.
Connect to your Time Capsule:
Ensure your new Mac mini M1 is connected to the same network as the Time Capsule. If the data transfer over Wi-Fi is slow or if you're having trouble, consider connecting the Mac mini directly to the Time Capsule using an Ethernet cable for faster data transfer.
Prepare Both Macs:
Ensure both the old and new Macs are plugged into AC power. Close all applications on both Macs.
Start Migration Assistant:
On your new Mac mini M1, go to Applications > Utilities and open Migration Assistant.
Click Continue.
Select Source:
When asked how you want to transfer your information, choose From a Mac, Time Machine backup, or startup disk. Click Continue.
Choose Backup:
Migration Assistant will scan for available backups. Choose the relevant Time Capsule backup. Click Continue.
Select Data to Transfer:
You'll be given an option to select what data to transfer. This can include user accounts, applications, settings, and other data. Select the data you want to transfer. Click Continue.
Start Migration:
The migration process will begin. This can take several hours, depending on the amount of data and the speed of your network.
Complete Setup:
Once the migration is complete, close Migration Assistant. Restart your Mac mini M1 if prompted.
Your Mac mini M1 should now have all the data from your Time Capsule backup. Ensure that all your files, applications, and settings have been transferred as expected. If you face any issues during the migration process, consider checking Apple's support website or contacting Apple Support Tel.: 0800 6645 451 (DE) for assistance.
