Fitness Tracking is not working

I got a new phone + apple watch yesterday and everything works fine except the fitness tracker. When I want to track a workout my watch only tracks the time. Furthermore it doesn’t track Calories, exercise or stand which my old one did automatically. I don’t know what to do?!

Please help if you know what the problem could be!

Apple Watch SE, watchOS 10

Hi franka145,

If your Apple Watch is not tracking fitness data as expected, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to address the issue:

1.Check Motion Calibration & Distance:

  • On your iPhone, open the Watch app.
  • Go to the "My Watch" tab.
  • Tap on "Privacy."
  • Ensure that both "Fitness Tracking" and "Health" are toggled on.
  • Go back and tap on "Motion Calibration & Distance."
  • Calibrate your watch by following the on-screen instructions.

2.Calibrate Your Apple Watch:

  • To calibrate your Apple Watch, go for a 20-minute outdoor walk or run using the Workout app. Make sure your iPhone is with you.
  • Calibrating the watch can help improve the accuracy of the data it records.

3.Check Workout Settings:

  • When you start a workout, make sure that the correct workout type is selected, as different workouts may have different tracking metrics.

4.Restart Your Apple Watch:

  • Restart your Apple Watch by pressing and holding the side button until the Power Off slider appears. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

5.Check Software Updates:

  • Ensure that your Apple Watch is running the latest watchOS version. On your iPhone, open the Watch app, go to the "My Watch" tab, then go to "General" > "Software Update."

6.Check Health App Permissions:

  • On your iPhone, open the Health app.
  • Tap on your profile picture in the top right corner.
  • Under "Privacy," make sure that "Fitness" and "Motion & Fitness" categories are allowed.

7.Reset Fitness Calibration Data:

  • On your iPhone, go to the Watch app > "My Watch" > "Privacy."
  • Tap on "Reset Fitness Calibration Data."

8.Unpair and Re-pair Your Apple Watch:

  • If the issue persists, you may try unpairing your Apple Watch from your iPhone and then re-pairing it. This process will back up your data, but it's a more involved step.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be helpful to contact Apple Support for further assistance. They can provide personalized support and help you troubleshoot the specific problem with your device.

Good luck!
