Logic keeps referencing NAS paths even though all audio is in the project
Hi everyone,
I’m running into a strange issue when working with Logic projects on my NAS (UGREEN).
- I always save projects as Package, with all checkboxes enabled (Copy audio files, Copy sampler files, etc.) – so the project should be completely self-contained.
- However, if I simply copy such a project package from the NAS to my Desktop and then disconnect the NAS, Logic refuses to open it. It keeps trying to connect to the original server path (/Volumes/...) and just hangs.
The only way I’ve found to make a project truly independent from the NAS is this:
- Open the project directly on the NAS (while connected).
- Go to File → Project Alternatives → Export Alternative as Project… and save that new version on my Desktop.
- That exported version opens fine, even if the NAS is disconnected.
Other methods I tried (Save As…, Save a Copy As…, Project Management → Consolidate/Cleanup) don’t work – Logic still embeds the NAS path references and won’t open without the server.
One more detail: this only happens with projects that were originally created on the NAS. If I first create a project locally on my Mac, then later move it to the NAS and keep working from there, it behaves normally – I can copy it back and open it without issues.
👉 Has anyone found a way to prevent Logic from embedding those server paths in the first place, or a setting to tell Logic not to look for missing servers on startup if all the audio files are already inside the project package?
System setup:
- Logic Pro 11.2.2
- macOS Sequoia 15.5
- MacBook Pro 14” (2021) M1
- UGREEN NAS
Thanks a lot!
