HDMI problem

I’d first try a different HDMI cable and a different HDMI input on the display or TV. Also disconnect both devices from power for a minute, then reconnect them.
If the display still isn’t detected, open System Settings > Displays, hold the Option key, and click Detect Displays.
If another display and cable also fail through HDMI, but video works through a USB-C port, the HDMI port may need service. Is there no picture at all, or is only the audio missing?
