iPhone overrides manual carrier selection on iOS26

I'm from Germany and spend my vacation at the dutch border. I know this place for decades. There is German coverage but it's much worse than the dutch. So in the past I just logged into the dutch network. If I went back into Germany I had no coverage, annoying, but I could then switch back manually.

Now several times per day my iPhone switched the carrier back to default. I got this modal which said.

Your carrier Telekom.de is now being used You can choose another carrier or enable automatic carrier selection. OK / Settings

This is wild to me. Is this a iOS26-pseudo-intelligence or is sth. wrong with my carrier settings?

That isn’t Apple Intelligence. The phone or Telekom is moving the connection back to your home network when it becomes available, even though you selected the Dutch network manually.

I’d first check Settings > General > About and wait a few seconds in case a carrier settings update appears. Then restart the iPhone and try the manual network selection again.

If it keeps switching back, contact Telekom and ask whether their current carrier settings or roaming policy now override manual network selection near the border. Since iOS is displaying a specific Telekom notification, this may be carrier-controlled rather than a setting you can change yourself.

Hallo L_ua_p, bitte sei so freundlich und fasse dein Anliegen in deutscher Sprache ab. So hilfst du nicht nur uns dabei dir zu helfen, andere Nutzer finden so auch Hilfe bei einem ähnlichen oder gleichen Anliegen.

Deinen Post verstehe ich so, dass du Probleme mit der Mobilfund-Netzwerkauswahl hast. Vielleicht hilft hier, den Mobilfunkanbieter manuell auf deinem iPhone auszuwählen. Das geht über

Einstellungen,
Mobilfunk,
Netzauswahl.

Hier kannst du den Anbieter auswählen.

Mit iOS 26 hat das meines Erachtens wenig zu tun, denn mit einem ähnliche Phänomen war ich auch schon vor Jahren konfrontiert. Ich kann mir schon vorstellen, dass dieses Phänomen im Grenzgebieten nervig ist. Vielleicht kannst du dir ja mit der manuellen Einstellung helfen.
