how to install USB GPS receiver with High Sierra?

Hello,

I want to use OpenCPN with my Macbook Pro for a cruise in Croatia. I've just bought a GPS Receiver with USB port (GlobalSat BU 353 USB) to be able to monitor my position.

I've installed the driver for MacOS X (this is the only driver available) into my Macbook pro but it runs High Sierra.

However, with my Macbook Pro I have been totally unsuccessful in setting up the USB port to bring the GPS data. If anyone else has solved the problem it would be good to know the fix? Thanks a lot
