Trying to recover lost work in FCPx

I think this is what you are looking for:

File->Open Library->From Backup...

You seem to be trying to open a backup of a backup.

Note the name of the library containing a timestamp.

You should try opening the original library, and then choose the "From Backup..." option.

Then the list next to "Restore from:" should populate, and you should be able to choose.

Are you sure that your original library has that name (emphasis mine):

"Austin G Wedding 3-22-24 20240416_1432_EDT (original)"

The timestamp in a name normally indicates that this is one of the backup libraries create by FCP automatically.

But then there is this "(original)" added, which I don't know, but maybe you added it yourself?

Try this:

In Finder, open the folder "Final Cut Backups" that is located inside your Movies folder.

Inside, there should be subfolders named after your libraries.

Tell us what you see - in particular, is there a folder named

"Austin G Wedding 3-22-24"?

What is inside that folder?
