I was reactivating my old iPod classic. However, I am using Apple Music and have all my music uploaded in the cloud. Is it possible to download only the music from the cloud that I own or filter my music somehow by music I own (not songs from Apple Music but songs I previously had). I do not have enough storage to download all the music and then let iTunes manage what can be transferred to the iPod.

iPod classic ist not compatible with songs downloaded from Apple Music. You have to synchronize your old mp3 files to iPod classic.
That was not my question. My question was if there is a way to download ONLY my old mp3 files which are also uploaded when using iCloud Music Library. Or a way to find out which of my music are my old mp3 files. I don't know how to see if a song is mine or from Apple Music.

Your music (your MP3 files) should be still available on your computer where you stored them originally. In iTunes you can simply create a smart playlist (File > New > Smart Playlist) and use the following criteria:
Apple Music has not saved your mp3 music. It changes your titles to the better quality which is available at iTunes.
