Boot-loop after installing soundflower
Dear Community,
after installing Soundflower on my Mac yesterday (Catalina) and trying to reboot so the drivers would take effect, I was caught in a persistent boot loop. Neither safe mode nor other options worked. The only bright spot is the internet recovery mode. According to research, there have always been problems like this with Soundflower....
There - when I check to see if the hard drive is recoverable, I am now missing about 100GB of my data.... I find that scary since I didn't do backups (you learn from mistakes).
My plan now would be this:
1) Transfer via recovery at least the available data to be recovered to an external hard drive.
2) Delete the .kext file of the soundflower. I hope that I can boot again after that....
3) Possibly get my old data back via recovery software.
For this my questions:
1) Does this plan sound reasonable? Could it solve the problem?
2) What does the driver have to do with the - according to Disk Utility - happened data loss???
3) What are the prospects of getting this data back?
4) How do I delete the driver from the terminal within the Internet Recovery Mode? I'm totally new to this unfortunately.... I would appreciate if someone could briefly explain the commands to me.
My infinite gratitude to you guys!
