FINALLY completely switch off MacBook Pro internal display with external monitor
Guys,
There are countless threads and countless quirky "how tos" on the web about this topic. They all share one bottom line. It is somehow complicated to turn of your internal MacBook Pro's or Air's screen when you're running in desktop / clamshell mode with an external display and want to turn off your internal screen.
To completely turn off your internal Macbook Pro or MacBook Air screen when you run an external screen is only realy possible when you close down your MacBook Pro's / Airs's lid. There are some work arounds that work better or worse including terminal commands or even crazy magnet hacks.
Well - these times are over now - at least for the happy people out there with a MacBook Pro M1 2021.
Finally Apple did it.
And it is as simple as the push of a button.
Just use the hardware brightness control button and turn brightness down. The last step will completely turn the internal display off/dark (as shown here on my YouTube Short https://youtu.be/z1kMFYwJeBo).
I've tested this as well on an 2018 intel MacBook Pro - nothing like the above. So it seems that this is an M1 or even a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 feature - let me know.
Thanks Apple for this - I think many of us wanted this "feature" for a long long time :)
By the way - did I mention that using such a machine like the MacBook Pro M1 Pro is an absolute pleasure with MacOS Monterey. MacOS was good - it got better and is almost perfect now. Greez and have fun!
