Need support to finish an Ubuntu installation on a MacBook Pro 2009 running Yosemite
Still very happy with my old hardware. But macOS is performing very slow on this 2009 MacBook Pro. So I thought to give Linux a try. I am new to Linux and have little to no experience with fiddling around with terminals, but willing to give it a try.
My problem is that I managed to install Ubuntu and boot from my internal UBUNTU partition. But after seeing the Ubuntu logo, I just get to a grey screen. Nothing else from there.
Here's my path:
- Installed Ubuntu according this instruction, following the path of a dual-boot solution: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/instal...x-macbook-pro/
- Continuously bumping into this grey screen when booting Ubuntu, so started to troubleshoot with Google. Came across this solution: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair
- Rebooted from memory stick with live system, and installed boot repair from system that's running from USB stick
- I did NOT create an analysis first and then run boot repair. Instead I ran boot repair immediately.
- At the end of the repair process I got asked to create a pastebin which I did
- Rebooted from internal disk, still no cigar
- decided to ask for help
Unfortunately I get an error publishing the pastebin content here. So I created a TextEdit file and shared it through my iCloud: https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/068Zbmb1eW_rYZTIW_raJBQiQ#Boot_Repair_Summary
Thank you in advance to help me do my first steps with Linux / Ubuntu and get this thing to run!
Kind regards from Switzerland
