MacBook Air (M2, 2022) extremly low

Hello everybody :)

Lately, my MacBook Air (2022) 16gb 256gb has been running extremely slow.

So I deactivated unnecessary applications running in the background, cleared my cache and deactivated launching apps at login.

But unfortunately, it's still running slow. Therefore, I downloaded geekbench 7, to run a benchmark test. The results were really disappointing (1500 single-core and 5600 mutli-core)and are not even close to average. (2500 single-core and 9600 multi-core)

So does anybody know what to do? Or should I contact the apple support directly?

Thanks and best wishes

Justin

Hello!

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Community.

  1. Open the Activity Monitor application to see if any processes are using an excessive amount of CPU, memory, or disk resources. If you spot an application or process consuming a lot of resources, it might be the culprit. You can force-quit it from Activity Monitor, but make sure you know what the process is before terminating it.
  2. Boot your MacBook into Safe Mode by holding the Shift key during startup. Safe Mode disables non-essential services and startup items, and it may help determine if the issue is related to built-in system components or third-party software.
  3. Ensure that you have enough free disk space. macOS needs some free space to operate efficiently. If your disk is almost full, consider transferring some files to an external hard drive or using cloud storage.

If you've tried the above steps and are still experiencing issues, contacting Apple Support Tel.: 0800 6645 451 (DE) or visiting an Apple Store or authorized service provider is a good idea. They can run more detailed diagnostics and help determine if there's a hardware defect or other issue.
