Small crack in the display of a new MacBook Pro
I bought a brandnew MacBook Pro two weeks ago. Yesterday there was suddenly a small crack in the display. The MBP had not fallen down, nothing had fallen on or bumped against it and absolutely nothing was in the way when I closed it earlier.
Yet, that’s all the Apple Support insists happened and that I need to pay 850€ for repairs. I did not cause the damage, I was very careful with the MacBook, and normal use should absolutely not result in this sort of damage to a new product.
I have since come across many similar reports by other customers, for previous versions of the MacBooks Pro and Air. So just a word of caution to those who are considering a purchase.
Apple customer support and service won’t help you. They insisted they believe me that I didn’t cause the damage (so apparently there is awareness of the problem), but that such damage is always treated like accidental damage and has to be covered in full by the customer. Completely unacceptable all around.
