Hi nictest,
In macOS Finder, you can sort image files based on the date the picture was taken, which is typically stored in the EXIF data of the image files. Here's how you can do it:
1.Open Finder:
Open the Finder on your Mac.
2.Go to the Folder Containing Images:
Navigate to the folder where your image files are located.
3.Choose View Options:
Click on "View" in the menu bar and then select "Show View Options" or press Command + J.
4.Enable Date Created and Date Added:
In the View Options window, make sure "Date Created" and "Date Added" are selected. These options are helpful to confirm the original creation date of the file.
5.Sort by Date Created:
Click on the column header labeled "Date Created" to sort the files by creation date. This will display the files in the order in which they were created on disk.
6.View EXIF Data:
- If you want to see the actual date the picture was taken (from EXIF data), you can use third-party applications or Quick Look:Third-Party Applications: Applications like Preview or specialized photo management apps may show you the EXIF data.
- Quick Look: Select an image file and press Spacebar to open Quick Look. Use the arrow keys to navigate through images, and you might see EXIF data displayed.
Unfortunately, Finder's default columns do not include a direct option for sorting images by their EXIF date. However, with the date created and date added columns, you can have a better understanding of when the files were added or created.
For more advanced photo management, you might consider using specialized photo management software that provides more detailed sorting options based on EXIF data.
Good luck!
Greetings
