iMac 21.5" late 2013 as monitor for Windows 11 Laptop

Hi!

I have an IMac (21.5", Late 2013 with MacOS 10.13.6 installed) and want to use this as a monitor for my laptop (DragonFly with Windows 11 installed).

For my laptop, i have a port station with DisplayPort connections for monitors. I have bought a connection cable from DisplayPort to Thunderbolt 2. I have connected the cable to the IMac and also to the port station of the laptop and have pressed cmd+F2 (I have activated the F1+F2 keys in the system). Unfortunately it was not working. I have also tried to connect the IMac via the connection cable from Thunderbolt via an adapter (DisplayPort to USB-C) directly to the laptop and pressed again cmd+F2. Also not working.

Any ideas what could be the reason, why i cannot use the IMac as a Monitor?

Die Antwort ist einfach: weil das noch nie unterstützt wurde. Der Target Display Mode (TDM) - so lautet die Bezeichnung für diesen Modus - funktioniert(e) nur in ganz bestimmten Gerätekombinationen:

iMac-Modelle von 2011, 2012, 2013 und Mitte 2014

So verwendest du eines dieser iMac-Modelle als externes Display:

Auf dem als Display verwendeten iMac muss macOS High Sierra oder älter
Der andere Mac, zu dem du eine Verbindung herstellen möchtest, muss von 2019 oder älter sein. Außerdem sollte auf ihm macOS Catalina oder älter installiert sein.
Um beide Mac-Computer zu verbinden, musst du ein Thunderbolt- oder Thunderbolt 2-Kabel verwenden.

iMac-Modelle (24″und 27″) von 2009 und 2010

So verwendest du eines dieser iMac-Modelle als externes Display:

Auf dem als Display verwendeten iMac muss macOS High Sierra oder älter
Der andere Mac, zu dem du eine Verbindung herstellen möchtest, muss von 2019 oder älter sein. Außerdem sollte auf ihm macOS Catalina oder älter installiert sein.
Um beide Mac-Computer zu verbinden, musst du ein Mini DisplayPort-Kabel verwenden.
