Audio issues with AirPods Pro 2 during long video calls
I've been using AirPods Pro 2 for almost 2 years now without any major problems. They're connected to my iPhone, MacBook, and Apple Watch (switching automatically between devices).
My setup:
- MacBook connected to an external monitor via USB-C (for video and power)
- Monitor has audio output (not in use)
- Occasionally, audio switches to monitor output automatically
Issue:
I'm on video calls for about 7 hours a day using various conferencing tools (Teams, Zoom, and specialized third-party software). After some time, I start experiencing audio distortions. It's not static, but more like the sound rapidly switching between left and right earbuds. This happens especially when I'm multitasking - switching between the video call window and other applications.
Temporary fixes:
- Reconnecting via Bluetooth
- Briefly switching to speakers and back to AirPods (see screenshot)
Has anyone experienced similar issues or found a permanent solution? I'm wondering if it's related to:
- Long usage time
- Interference from multiple connected devices
- Software conflicts with video conferencing tools
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
