[SOLVED] iCloud drive sync problem - Documents folder dissapeared
I want to share my experience with a iCloud Drive issue that was driving me crazy until yesterday, when I've founded a solution.
I had iCloud Drive activated on my Macbook Pro with the option marked "desktop & documents folders" meaning that my macbook pro and iCloud drive had theses folders synced.
For some reason (storage problems I think...) I had to unmark (deactivate) this option, and later mark it again (activate it) for here is when my problems started, The marked option when I was clicking on "done" wasn't working, folders weren't syncing at all, I had new folders created (like /documents - "nameofthemac"/) and every time I went back to the iCloud drive preferences, the "desktop & documents folders" option was unmarked, even after marking it and click "done" (reboot, etc... always same result)
Another problem was that when I looked into my user folder, the "documents" folder wasn't there (only the "/documents - "nameofthemac"/" one) and all my files where on iCloud drive but not here.
If I use the "go" command on finder I would get "the folder doesn't exist" error. If I tried to rename a folder into "documents" I'll get "this folder already exist" error.
This problem was linked also with another app problem: Adobe Premiere PRO, after this, was crashing with this error: "Directory access error. Please make sure your user directory isn't locked."
SOLUTION:
I finally found a super easy solution and was: using this Shortcut "Command + Shift + Period ( . )" to show hidden files I've founded a hidden alias "documents" => I erased it and just right after this, I was able to rename folder "/documents - "nameofthemac"/" into "/documents/"
With this Premiere was able to open without crashing, and I was able to reactivated "desktop & documents folders" sync.
Hope this can help many others!
