Why is there a delay between the audio and the image???

I just rented a film on Apple TV (The Devil wears Prada). It's late, I'm tired and I just wanted to watch a film hoping that I could trust Apple services... But it is simply impossible to watch the film because there is a huge delay between the audio and the image! Could you please explain me why?...
