display resolution on MacBook Air 13.6 m2

Hello everyone .I want to know why my MacBook Air 13.6 m2 is showing 1470 x 956 as a default resolution ,while on the official site and when I bought it, it was written 2560x1664?Is there an option to go to the highest resolution without sacrificing the view of my desktop (I have to tried to go to the option ,but the view of the dipstick changes to a small icons and text ) .Please help .Thank you in advance
