Notes app not syncing from iCloud to Macbook

My Notes app isn't syncing properly between my devices. It works fine on my iPhone and when I sign into icloud.com - but on my desktop app it doesn't update, and shows no notes at all. I have triple checked that the iCloud account is activated for the app on all of my devices. I've even signed out and back into my iCloud account, but no luck.

Any help much appreciated, I use it for work so it's really an inconvenience for it to not be working properly.
