Film format HEVC ( iPhone 15) not accepted by imovie

Films made with iPhone 15 format HEVC are not accepted by app iMovie in my MAC.

With format H264 ( iPhone 13)no problem.

The file with film in format HEVC cannot be exported to any directory in the MAC.

Question:

1) Is it necessary to convert HEVC to H264 to work with Imovie?
