No data since arriving in Portugal from England
Hi there. I’ve spent the first day of what should be a great week trying to get my iPhone 13 to function with data roaming.
I have reserved an appointment at a local Apple approved business for 11am on Monday but would like this sorted asap.
When I landed by plane in Portugal I turned my phone back on and wasn’t getting any data, no icon in the top right of my screen other than the four bars. Nothing unusual.
I then went on Settings and played around with the data roaming and other similar options, trying any combination I could. No data.
When I arrived at my destination I returned to a Lyca Mobile shop to buy a new SIM for the week, hoping this would work. It didn’t, but I would get the LTE or 5G icon flashing up and disappearing constantly from the top right of my screen. This didn’t translate into any actual data usage.
I have been able to receive Facebook Messenger audio calls in this time but not load a single online app or webpage.
If I do it may give me the “Ceullar data is turned off” message. I will check to ensure every combination of options is on, but it will still give me this message even if it hasn’t turned them back off.
I have downloaded eSIMs which haven’t worked either. I am therefore only able to use the internet when on WiFi which is understandably difficult when you’re trying to see the country.
Personal Hotspots seem to have vanished from my phone’s settings without a trace too.
I have tried multiple times to reset the network settings, and add and delete SIMs, or to make one my Primary, one my Secondary, etc etc.
If anyone has an idea of what could be done please let me know. I have tried every piece of advice on here other than resetting the phone’s factory settings. Thanks.
